About CLAT

Common Law Admission Test or CLAT, is a single unified entrance test for candidates aspiring to pursue 3 year LLB, 5 year Integrated LLB and LLM. The law entrance examination is conducted annually for UG and PG programs. NLU’s conduct the national level exam on a rotational basis. The exam will be conducted on May 10, 2020. Intermediate graduates with 45% marks can apply online. The application window is open from January 1, 2020.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria - Undergraduate Law Programmes-LL.B

The eligibility criteria of CLAT will differ for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Given below is CLAT eligibility criteria for 5-year integrated law program:

  • Qualifying exam: Candidates who have passed their Senior Secondary School Examination/ 12th Board Examination can apply.
  • Marks in qualifying exam: A minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying degree is required to appear in CLAT . SC and ST candidates need only 40% marks.
  • Age limit: There is no age limit for appearing in CLAT for UG program

CLAT Eligibility Criteria - Postgraduate Law Pro grammes

  • Qualifying exam: Aspirants applying for admission to the LLM program needs to hold a valid bachelor’s degree in law or any equivalent exam. Both five-year integrated and three-year law degrees are accepted.
  • Marks in qualifying marks: Aspirants need to score at least 55% in the qualifying degree. SC/ST category candidates will be granted 5% relaxation in minimum marks.
  • Age limit: Like in CLAT UG, there is no age limit for appearing in CLAT for PG program as well.

Each objective question (both UG and PG) will carry 1 mark. 

An incorrect question will invite a penalty of 0.25 marks.
