About CLAT
Common Law Admission Test, or CLAT, is a single unified entrance test for candidates aiming to pursue 3-year LLB, 5-year Integrated LLB, and LLM programs. This law entrance examination is conducted annually for both UG and PG programs, with the CLAT exam pattern being standardized across participating National Law Universities (NLUs) that conduct the national level exam on a rotational basis. The next exam will take place on May 10, 2020, and intermediate graduates with at least 45% marks can apply online starting from January 1, 2020.
CLAT Eligibility Criteria - Undergraduate Law Programmes-LL.B
The CLAT eligibility criteria vary for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Below are the eligibility criteria for the 5-year integrated law program:
Qualifying exam: Candidates must have passed their Senior Secondary School Examination/12th Board Examination to qualify.
Marks in qualifying exam: A minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying degree is required to appear in CLAT. SC and ST candidates need only 40% marks.
Age limit: There is no age limit for appearing in the CLAT UG program.
CLAT Eligibility Criteria - Postgraduate Law Programmes
Qualifying exam: Aspirants applying for admission to the LLM program must hold a valid bachelor’s degree in law or an equivalent exam. Both five-year integrated and three-year law degrees are accepted.
Marks in qualifying marks: Candidates need to score at least 55% in their qualifying degree. SC/ST category candidates will receive a 5% relaxation in minimum marks.
Age limit: Similar to the CLAT UG criteria, there is no age limit for appearing in the CLAT PG program as well.
